TIGERCATS

 

DEFINITION:

"STOCK"

For the purposes of this rule book and governing events at the speedway, the word "stock" means: - Available on stock passenger car models, from the car manufacturer, installed per the manufacturers specifications, with no modifications, visual or technical, stock appearing, stock performing unless as otherwise noted in this rule book. All items not mentioned are to be Stock.

 

INTENT

It is the intent to provide a class of cars which:

Are fast and challenging to drive but less expensive to build, operate and maintain while providing close and exciting competition for the fans and the competitors. The emphasis in this class will be placed on the driver, his crew and their setup and driving skills. This class will generally be considered for more experienced ThunderCat drivers who wish to move to a higher division but are not yet ready for a rear wheel drive division.

 

APPROVED MODELS

Any Stock front or rear wheel drives up to and including 2002 with 101 - 145 net horsepower as determined by the speedway.  Models includes but is not limited to the following sample:

Honda or Acura 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 or 2.2L,

Toyota 1.6 or 1.2L GTS

Nissan 2.0 w/EFI

Dodge 2.0, 2.2, 2.5 L or 3.3L (vibration rods may be removed for better performance)

Isuzu Impulse, I-Mark

Mazda 626

VW Quantum (2.2L), Golf GT, GTI 1.8L, Golf GL or GLI

Volvo 240 GL, or GLE

Ford 2.3 Litre CFI, 1.9 Litre EFI, or 3.0L (V6)

GM 2.2L, 2.8L (V6) or 3.1L (V6).

Newer and other models of cars may also be eligible to race. If your car isn’t on the list call us. It is most likely eligible to race.

No Honda CRX models

 

BODY

Stock.

All glass must be removed except windshield.

All doors must be welded and / or bolted shut.

A minimum 18" high 1/4" thick drivers side door plat, at drivers height, is mandatory.

All cars must begin the day with a complete body (hood, doors, fenders, trunk, etc.).

The frame can not be lower than 5" to the ground at any point. Spring spacers may be used to raise the car for clearance purposes.


The top 8" of the Windshield must be kept open for the class sponsor.  In addition the space behind the front right wheel and in fron to of the door numbers must be left open for contingency award sponsors.

TRANSMISSION

Stock.

Rear wheel drive models must have a drive shaft hoop.

 

TIRES AND WHEELS

Stock.

Any H rated, up to P225 60R x 15 series, radial tire.

May use up to a 7" wide stock steel rim for make and model of the car . All 4 rims must be identical.

No recaps or retread tires allowed.

Minimum camber of -1 negative and a maximum camber of +4 positive for rear wheel drives.

Minimum camber of -1 negative and a maximum camber of +6 positive for front wheel drives.

Tires must meet CFS specs and may be disallowed based on speedway judgment.

 

SAFETY

Fuel cell and racing seat allowed but not required.

Steel marine tank, centered in trunk with PVC valve on vent line is acceptable. 8 gallon fuel cell also acceptable.

Steel 22 gauge fire wall to separate cell from driver required.

An H type roll bar with one horizontal pipe (per side) fastened to the roof and floor (with a sandwich plate) is required. Seat must be fastened to H bar in rear.

Dash may be removed.

Window net is required.

Door plate must be carriage bolted into frame or securely welded to the car

Interior must be removed except drivers seat.

Must have an easily reached safety cut off switch.

Must have a minimum aircraft type seat belt with shoulder harness or a 4 point racing harness.

Must have a properly charged fire extinguisher (minimum of 2.5 lbs) within reach of the driver.

Must have either a drivers fire suit or fire treated cotton overalls.

Must have your seat in original position, bolted to frame and connected to roll cage.

Rookies may use a rounded / opaque left side mirror a maximum of 5 inches in diameter in their first season.

No scoops or air dams.

No spoilers.

No glass except for the front windshield.

Battery may be repositioned anywhere within the car. Must be securely fastened and covered if in the drivers compartment.

 

ENGINE

Stock.

All engines in all models are to remain Stock and unmodified inside and outside.

Stock Ignition and Rad. Overflow tank required for Rad.

Stock fan.

Stock air box and filter.

A $350 Engine Claim rule will be in effect.

Any car which wins three features is eligible to have it’s engine claimed by anyone.

Anyone wishing to claim an engine must deliver the claim fee to the Pit Steward, in cash, within ten minutes of the finish of the class feature. The Claimee shall receive the $350 and the Claimer (person making the claim) shall receive the engine. Refusing a claim means disqualification.

Anyone refusing a claim will lose his points and purse for that event.

Claim includes Carburetor, Intake, Oil Pan, Distributor and Water Pump.

 

WEIGHT

All cars will have a minimum base weight of 2000 lbs plus 20 lbs per each additional HP over 100 (per the Chilton Manual). 

e.g. Car with 130 HP =  2000 lbs + ((130-100) x 20) = 2660 for the cars legal race weight.

Exceptions are the following cars which will have these minimum weights:

HMC (Honda and Acura) with 1.8L standard transmission = 2300 lbs, 2.0L = 2400 lbs, 2.2L = 2500 lbs

GM with 2.2L standard transmission = 2300 lbs, 2.8L (V6) = 2400 lbs, 3.1L (V6) = 2500 lbs

All of these exceptions with DOHC Cars add an 50 lbs

All of these exceptions with Fuel Injected Cars add 50 lbs

All of these exceptions with Dual Exhaust Manifold add 50 lbs

Minimum weights include the driver in the car and the car full of gas.

Maximum Left Side Weight is 53% for all cars.

Other weights will be determined when required. Please call the speedway to determine your cars race weight if in doubt.

 

SUSPENSION

Stock.

Front strut towers may be reinforced with one horizontal bar.

Vehicle can not be lower than 4" from any point to the ground.

 

EXHAUST

Exhaust pipe(s) must be no more than 1 and 3/4 in outside diameter and exit passenger side 1 foot in front of rear wheel.

Stock Manifolds only.

No Headers or "header like" manifolds even if available stock.
