DEFINITION:
"STOCK"
For the purposes of this rule book and governing events at the speedway, the word "stock" means: - Available on stock passenger car models, from the car manufacturer, installed per the manufacturers specifications, with no modifications, visual or technical, stock appearing, stock performing unless as otherwise noted in this rule book. All items not mentioned are to be Stock.
INTENT
It is the intent to provide a class of cars which:
Are fast and challenging to drive but less expensive to build, operate and maintain while providing close, exciting competition for the fans and the competitors. The emphasis will be on the driver, his crew and their setup and driving skills.
APPROVED MODELS
Any stock front or rear wheel drives up to and including model year 2002, including: Chev Citation, Buick Skylark, Olds Omega, Pontiac Pheonix, Pontiac Sunbird, or Chevrolet Cavalier, Dodge, Ford or similar with a standard transmission and no more than a 2.0 L engine, or with a 3 speed automaitc and no more than a 3.3 L V6 engine. Honda Civic with 1.5 L, Mazda 323 with 1.6 L, or other 4 cyl, standard cars with less than 100 Horsepower per the Chilton manual for the year, make, and model. For models not in this list please call the speedway to verify eligibility before building at 506 388-2415.
BODY
Stock.
All glass must be removed except windshield.
All doors must be welded and / or bolted shut.
A minimum 1/4" thick x 18 high drivers side door plate is mandatory.
All cars must begin the day with a complete body (hood, doors, fenders, trunk, etc.).
The frame can not be lower than 5" to the ground at any point. Spring spacers may be used to raise the car for clearance purposes.
The top 8" of the Windshield must be kept open for the class sponsor. In addition the space behind the front right wheel and in fron to of the door numbers must be left open for contingency award sponsors.
INTERIOR
Stock.
All Roof insulation, floor covering and rear seat must be removed in all models.
Seat back must be bolted to the cross bar to prevent it from moving.
A stock seat is to be used. If the driver has less than 3 inches of head room between the top of their helmet and the roof of the car when seated in position it is recommended that the seat be lowered to the floor by removing the sliding mechanism and securly welding or ancoring the seat to the floor and the cross bar of the roll cage.
Side supports may be add to the seat if desired. These are not required.
A stock, center hung, rear view mirror may be used.
Rookies may also use a maximum 5" in diameter opaque driver side mirror in their rookie season.
ENGINE, DRIVE TRAIN AND COMPONENTS
Stock including gauges.
SUSPENSION AND BRAKES
Stock.
Front Wheels may be cambered up to (+ or -) 2 degrees.
ELECTRICAL AND CHARGING SYSTEM
Stock.
EXHAUST
A single exhaust pipe up to a maximum of 1.5" outside diameter attached to stock manifold(s)
Must remain the same diameter and exit on the passenger side, behind the drivers compartment and within 1 foot in front of the rear wheel.
FLOOR
Stock.
All holes must be covered with stock thickness metal and follow the original contour.
GAS TANK
Stock
Gas tank must be moved ahead of the rear axle.
A fuel cell may be used but is not required. The Tank may not extend below the trunk floor.
HOOD
Stock.
Front latch must be removed and a tie-down or hood pins installed.
0All insulation under the hood must be removed.
TRUNK
Stock.
Latch must be removed and Hood Pins must be installed.
RADIATOR
Stock.
Must use water only as coolant.
BATTERY
Stock.
DRIVER SAFETY PROTECTION
A drivers door plate a minimum of 1/4" thick and at least 18" wide must be welded or bolted (through door frames / body) to the outside of the drivers door a minimum of every 18 inches, so that 1/2 of the plate is above and 1/2 below the center of the bumpers.
If a passenger seat is in place an equivalent minimum plate must be installed on the passenger side.
Plate must follow the contour of the body and be painted the same color as the car.
A four point safety harness is required (Lap belts must be bolted to original seat belt mounts. Shoulder belts must be fastened to the roll bar at shoulder height). Call the speedway at 388-2415 for inexpensive supply.
No tying, riveting, or any other method other than proper attachment is acceptable.
A DOT approved helmet and seat belts must be worn whenever the car is on race track.
A secure, current (recharged no later than Jan 1st of the current year), quick release fire extinguisher must be within easy reach of the driver.
A Long sleeve cotton shirt, cotton (or denim) pants or overalls, fire treated, are mandatory when on the track.
A Drivers side window net with a quick release (e.g. seat belt snap) mounted at the top is required.
TIRES AND WHEELS
All four tires / wheels must be the same size, H, S, or T rated, and no larger than a P235 x 60R x 15
Sizes must be readable.
Wheels must be stock passenger steel wheels (unmodified) only.
After-market nuts are recommended.
WEIGHT
No additional weight is either allowed or required.
ROLL CAGE AND ALL OTHER PIPING
Must consist of a minimum single "H" type roll bar (tubing = 1 ½ inches in diameter and .095 thickness) directly behind the driver.
Must have two "sandwich plates" (one roof and one floor) consisting of two one-foot square steel plates of 1/8" thick . One plate is welded to the upright pipes and the other is placed on top of the roof with four carriage bolts joining the two square plates (diagram available on request) to secure the roll cage to the roof of the car. One cross pipe is welded from side to side at the driver shoulder level (with driver in position). An additional bar may be welded between the two uprights running along the roof. This bar must be at the very top of the uprights. This bar could provide additional protection in the event of a roll over and is recommended.
Trucks may have one support bar running from each upright into the back of the truck.
CLAIM RULE
A $300 Engine Claim rule will be in effect.
Any car which wins three features is eligible to have it’s engine claimed.
Anyone refusing a claim will lose his points and purse for that event and will race Mini Stocks for the remainder of the year.
Claim includes Carburetor, Dome, Oil Pan, Distributor and Water Pump.
GENERAL
Any driver who is dominating the class may be required to move up or accept a weight adjustment at any time during the season.
