Oct 16, 2009 - CENTRE for Speed regrets that for personal reasons a decision has been made to  postpone this weekends Demolition Event and reschedule it to Oct 24th at 1PM.  The event will be combined with the Atlantic Street Wars event for the season finale.  We apologise to the large number of competitors who have indicated their intent to participate in the event and we hope to see you all and more next weeknd.  Thank you for your consideration.

Weekend Schedule Changed Due to Rain

Oct 10, 2009 - Well, the weather man has thrown us a curve and a schedule changed is required due to the current conditions.  Please stay tuned for an updated schedule of events.  Thank you.

Schedule Unchanged

Oct 9, 2009 - After a review of the current weather forecast from Environment Canada issued earlier this morning the CENTRE is moving forward with the event schedule as currently planned.  The forecast is now calling for showers to end sometime on Saturday morning vs yesterdays forecast of rain throught the day.  We are hoping that the trend will continue to improve for Saturday and we therefore expect to complete the schedule as originaly planned.  Monday continues to be the rain date, if necessary.

Speedway Issues Possible Schedule Change Advisory

Oct 8, 2009 - Due to a worsening of the forecast for Saturday the speedway wishes to inform fans for this weekends championships that it will be making a decision tomorrow morning(Friday)regarding possible changes to the weekends schedule of events.  Anyone wishing to avoid additional lodging and meal expenses are urged to wait until tomorrow before beginning their travel.

If conditions remain the same there will be a need to change the current schedule and rearrange the classes and events to Sunday and Monday (where the forecast if for sun and warmer weather).  "We hope that the forecast will change for the better" said Tim Wile for the CENTRE "so we would like to wait until tomorrow morning to make a final decision on a revised  schedule for the weekend" he concluded.

Fans are asked to check the speedways web site or phone system for an update after 10 am on Friday.  The speedway is sorry for the inconvenience and would like to thanks everyone in advance for their understanding and patience

Two feature races will highlight the 2009 Atlantic Stock Car Championships with the Vance Hanes Auto Parts Sportsman 100 on Saturday, October 10th and the Maple Leaf Foods Pro Stock 150 on Sunday, October 11th, both starting at 1:00 p.m. The October 10th event will also feature Atlantic Championship races for Legend, Mini Stock and Four Fun division drivers. Sundays action will also include Atlantic Championship racing for Streetstock (50 lap feature) competitors as well as 35-lap events for Sportsman and AOW Tour competitors.

NASCAR drivers J.R. Fitzpatrick of Cambridge, Ontario, and Donald Chisholm of Antigonish, Nova Scotia will highlight a field of top stock car drivers from throughout Atlantic Canada, including for the first time ever, competitors from two Newfoundland speedways Avondale and Thunder Valley Speedways.

"Were very excited about this years Atlantic Championship events," says Tim Wile, track promoter and general manager for the Centre for Speed (CFS). "We've got a super field of competitors in all divisions and the cars continue to register every day.  We should have the strongest overall field of stock cars that we've ever seen at our facility for this years annual event, including drivers from all four Atlantic provinces thanks to our first-ever Newfoundland entries and strong representation from each of the stock car facilities in our region including Fredericton, Halifax, Sydney, Antigonish, and Charlottetown."

The long weekend events are expected to attract most of the top drivers from throughout the four Atlantic provinces, including most area track and tour champions as well as a number of former champions and defending Atlantic Champs.

On Sunday, October 11th, the Maple Leaf Foods Pro Stock 150 will feature CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stock Tour (MPST) champion, Wayne Smith (Timberlea, N.S.), who will be defending his 2008 Atlantic Championship title against the best Pro Stock drivers from our region, including Nova Scotians Donald Chisholm and John Flemming, local favorites Dave OBlenis (Boundary Creek), Mike Stevens (Riverview) and Brian McNaughton (Lower Coverdale), as well as Bern Hickey of Avondale Speedway (NL). Other top regional Pro Stock competitors expected on Sunday include a number of teams from Nova Scotia including George Koszkulics (New Glasgow) and Craig Slaunwhite (Terrence Bay), Fredericton-area drivers Shaun Tucker, Greg Fahey along with PEI competitors Jonathan Hicken, Kris Hughes, Scott Livingston and Kris Fournier. Sundays action will also include top Streetstock track champions and drivers from throughout the Atlantic region in the very competitive Atlantic Streetstock Championship 50. If last years photo finish is any indication, defending 2008 Atlantic Champ Fred Broussard from Sydneys Island Speedway will have his hands full in this edge of your seat Streetstock feature. Competitors from the AOW Tour will also battle it out in the AOW 35-lap main event.

On Saturday, October 10th, a total of 60 of the Maritimes top Sportsman drivers are expected to battle for positions on the 28-car starting grid for the Vance Hanes Auto Parts 100. Top competitors, including current and former track champions from most of the stock car tracks in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, are expected to make the trek to CFS for the 100 lap feature. The event will include top competitors and multi time track champs such as Dan Bourque (Grande Digue), Claude Gaudet (Barachois), Jim Duke (Moncton), Glyn Nott (Burton), Bradley Logan (Fredericton) and Jeff Dillman & Terry Roma (Halifax).

The Saturday program will also include track champions from throughout the region and other top drivers, including a few competitors from two Newfoundland speedways, in the very competitive 4 cylinder (Mini Stock, Four Fun). Both of these division drivers will be competing for their respective Atlantic Championship bragging rights in the Four Cylinder 35. Also included in the Saturday event will be drivers from the regions Legends racecar series putting their skills to the test against J.R. Fitzpatrick in the Legends 50 feature race.

"There are two things that make this weekend event unique," said track promoter Wile. "Fans, drivers and crews get a chance to celebrate the end of the racing season in friendly competition, without any pressure, and it's also an opportunity to match skills with most of the top teams from throughout the region - in every class with a chance to be named the 'best of the best' in your division."

Friday afternoon and evening on October 9th will feature practices for all divisions as well as a pit party.

The speedway is promising to make every effort to complete each days racing program, regardless of weather, on the day as originally scheduled unless conditions make it absolutely impossibe.

Weekend passes for adults will be sold for $40 while a youth (5-15 years old) weekend pass will go for $10. Weekend Family Passes for 2 adults and 2 youths will also be available for $85 a savings of $15! Oct 7, 2009 - Speedway moves AOW to Sunday

Oct 7, 2009 - CFS announced today that they have made a decision to move the AOW event to Sunday (Oct 11th) from the previously schedule Saturday date (Oct 10th).   The move is being made due to the additional Sportsman registrations received for the Saturday event in order to free up time for the required qualifying.  "Essentially, we have another qualifying heat to add to the program and by moving the AOW event to Sunday, where we have less qualifying, we gain the time we need to keep the program on time" said promoter Tim Wile.

Tucker and Thibeau Enter Frey

Oct 6, 2009 - Well, if racing were gambling, Shawn Tucker and Kirk Thibeau are quite the card sharks.  The # 52 and # 28 pilots certainly played their cards close to their chest waiting till just this week to confirm their earlier tentative entries.  The two top drivers will join a host of "The Best of the Best" and certainly "up the anti" on this weekends event for drivers hoping to hoist the Championships Cup at the end of the day!  For the fans however, "it's all good" and this writer for one can't wait till they drop the green this Saturday on this years edition of the Championships.  It's gonna be a BIG one!

Hatfield Registration Locks in Sportsman Field

Oct 5, 2009 - Speedway 660 Sportsman competitor Cal Hatfield locked in the field for this years Atlantic Championships Speed Weekend presented by Pepsi with his registration at 3:25 PM today.  CFS announced a new two day format for this years Championships that would let all sportsman competitors (a maximum of 60) race over the two days in one of two 30 car fields.  The format will see all 60 cars compete for a starting position in the 30 car field for the Vance Hanes Sportsman 100, on Saturday.  The remaining cars (if still able) will fill the starting 30 car grid for the 35 lap Sportsman feature on Sunday which will run with the Maple Leaf Foods Pro Stock 150.  Any positions not filled due to mechanical or other difficulties will be open for the qualifiers from Saturdays event to compete for in a format to be determined based on the positions available and number of cars attempting to qualify.  "We wanted to let all the sportsman have a chance to race since its usually the largest field of cars" said GM, Tim Wile.   "It's  'racings year end celebration' d althought it's impossible to have everyone in every class race we don't like to see a lot of cars in one class go home without a "last hurrah".  This format helps us make good on that concern and meet fans desires to see sportsman race on both days", he concluded.

Although all the 60 sportsman race slots are currently filled the speedway is maintaining a "waiting list" of those late registrations which come in and will fill cancellations or no shows out of that list, on a first come first served basis.

Quebec Sportsman Registers to Compete

Oct 4, 2009 - Jonathan Cote of St Estache Motordrome near Montreal has registered to compete in the Sportsman Class during the 9th Annual Championships Speed Weekend.   It's another first for the event as registrations have exceed all but the first of the annual events at over 190 teams.  Cote says his entry is still tentative for the event as he trys to finalize his crews availability but he is anxious and excited about competing here.  St Estache Sportsman use the same crate engine and basic chassis rules as the Maritime Sportsman.  For a picture of Cote's car click here.

Newfoundland Registrations Make True Atl. Championship

Oct 2, 2009 - CFS is pleased to announce for the first time, and in partnership with Avondale and Thunder Valley Speedways in Newfoundland, several Newfoundland Teams are now registered to compete in the Atlantic Championships!  The speedways are expecting between 2 and 6 entries in Pro Stock, Sportsman and Mini Stock classes from "the Rock".  "Avondale Promoter Bern Hickey and I have talked about this a number of times and I'm extremely excited that it's finally come together" said CFS Promoter Tim Wile.   "It's another example of what can be when tracks work together to forward the sport.  This makes the  dream of a true 'Atlantic' Championship a reality and I want to thank the Island promoters and especially Bern Hickey for spearheading this on the Island.  If it had not been for Berns efforts and like-mindedness this could never have happened." concluded Wile.

The CENTRE is asking for sponsorship assistance for the teams traveling from NFLD including anyone who can provide lodging or sponsorship dollars to assist them with the expenses.  Individuals or businesses willing to assist are asked to call Tim at 388-2415.

Second NASCAR Competitor Enters Championships

Sept 29, 2009 - NASCAR Canada and Maritime Pro Stock Tour Driver Donald Chisholm has entered to join the field at Championships Speed Weekend.  Chisholms registration was received this morning and follows two successful NASCAR CTS showings in Kawartha and Riverside International.  Chisholm joins local team mate George Koszkulics in their quest for the Championships Speed Weekend Title.  "I'm getting very excited about this year Championships" said Tim Wile, CFS Promoter and GM.  "We've got a super field of competitors coming together in the Pro Stocks, Sportsman and Legends Divisions and the excitement appears to be catching, based on the flurry of registrations received yesterday and a record breaking number of visitos to our web site yesterday.  Chisholm's registration makes the second NASCAR licensed driver in the field for Championships Speed Weekend and the Speedway is reporting that a third NASCAR entry is possible.

Koszkulics Makes Good on Promise

Sept 29, 2009 - Hot on the heels of the Wayne Smith anouncement to defend the Pro Stock Championship title George Koszkulics has entered the frey to make good on his promise at last years event.  Koszkulics voewed to vindicate himself on the heart breaking loss to Smith which saw the long time Maritime Pro Stock driver get caught up in a wreck which had happened ahead of him while on the last lap.  Koszkulis and Smith had raced nose to nose for more than 20 laps trading first and second almost every lap until a mishap in front of the tow and directly in front of Koszkulics caused him to wreck, eding his bid for the title.  Kozkulics' entry raises the stakes once again with an already strong field of top Maritime Pro Stocks and NASCAR Drivers registered to compete.  For a list of top competitors registered to date click here.

Smith to Defend Championship

Sept 28, 2009 - Wayne Smith will try to make it "two in a row" at this years Championships Speed Weekend.  Smith, won the Championships Pro Stock title last year after a daunting battling with George Koszkulicks for the last third of the Pro Stock event, will attempt to defend the title in '09.  Smith and Koszkulics, fans will recall, put on a tremendous race changing positions a half dozen times in the last 20 laps or so.  "That was the best Pro Stock Race i've seen all year" said one fan of the sea saw battle between the two.  Koszkulics who ended up getting caught up in a wreck in front of him as he raced Smith to the finish line commented after the race "that was my race to win and i'll be back next year"

Will Koszkulics make it a rematch akin to Godzilla vs King Ghidora?  We hope so!  Stay tuned as registrations continue to roll in.

CFS Kicks off "Speed Weeks" with Street Racing Event

Sept 27, 2009 -  This weekend the CENTRE kicks off  "Atlantic Speed Weeks" with the first of 3 events which will run from Oct 4th through to Oct 17th including the Atlantic Street Wars Championships, which will feature street-legal racing action including Burnouts, Street Drags, Slalom, Stereo Competitions and more.  Then on Oct 9 - 11 it's the original Speed Weekend in Atlantic Canada with the Atlantic Stock Car Championships (the crown jewel of Speed Weeks) and finishing off on Oct 17th with the Atlantic Demolition and Endurance Championships and what the CENTRE believes is the biggest ever purse to win a Demolition event of $10,000.  This weekend on Sunday, Oct 4th at 1 CFS expects to rumble when some of the areas baddest rides come out to show exactly what they've got.     "I'm excited about this event and the concept of Speed Weeks here in Greater Moncton.  We have so many great motor vehicle events here each year and obviously a lot of enthusiasts for motor sports.  These events add to the stationary displays that make up great shows like Speed Sport of the Atantic Nationals and i'm sure enthusiasts will appreciate them.   The event is open to anyone with a motor vehicle (including cars, trucks, bikes, etc) and a drivers license.  There will be cash prizes, giveaways and contests for the fans and racers. The Atlantic Street Wars kicks off Atlantic Speed Weeks this Sunday at 1 PM with $500 in cash to the top "Street Warrior".   For more info on Atlantic Street Wars or any of the three that make up Atlantic Speed Weeks please click on the related menu item.

NASCAR Driver Enters Speed Weekend Event

Sept 24, 2009 - CFS is pleased to announce the Kevin Harvick Team Driver,  JR Fitzpatrick has entered to race at Championships Speed Weekend on Oct 9 - 11.  Fitzpatrick, a Canadian, had success in the NASCAR Canada Series and was asked to join the Harvick team earlier this year where he has raced in the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series.  He has registered to race in two classes on Championships Speed Weekend, including Legends on Saturday and Pro Stocks on Sunday.  Click here for more on JR Fitzpatrick.

Third Generation Racers Set Records at CENTRE

Sept 23, 2009 - The Rodgers family are about as well know a family name in racing in our region as any other.  As most people know, Steve Rodgers, (driver of the #42 Sportsman) recently had contracted a virus that left him sightless in his right eye, and although Steve returned to race competitively in his #42 Sportsman he felt it might be time to turn over the reigns to a third generation of "Racing Rodgers".  So, about mid way through the season young Matt, Steve's son, became the youngest person to race a Sportsman car at the CENTRE, and possibly in the Maritimes.  ...and we might add he is doing a great job of it  with the help and knowledge of his Dad and Grand Dad in the Pits.

But that's just half of this story.  With young Matt stepping up to the ranks of Sportsman it soon dawned on the family  (and it didn't take much time) that they had a perfectly good Four Fun car with no driver!  Enter 12 year old Andrew Rodgers.  Andrew was an experienced competitive Go Kart driver but had not been racing since the family moved their home track to the SE Challenge Series from S660.  The family thought Andrew might want to try the car for some fun and scheduled a day of practice at the CENTRE for the 12 year old.  And, as they say, the rest is history.  Literally!  Andrew got the bug and on the last week of the regular season he made his debut and made it 2 records for the Rodgers in one year by breaking the previously record for the youngest driver (13 years old) at the speedway.  "It's great to see young people like Matt and Andrew continuing a family tradition like this and to see the family support they get", said Tim Wile of the CENTRE.   "These guys are a great group of folks and a great racing family and we're pleased to have them here racing and setting records.  I'm not sure but I believe that Andrew may be the youngest competitor ever to drive a stock car competitively in the Maritimes and Matt may have that same distinction for Sportsman racing, too." Wile concluded.

Although both of the young Rodgers had their days ended early at the last points race I expect we'll see them back at the Championships.  After all, they are the "Racing Rodgers" and I'm sure they'd like to etch their names in those same record  books for the Championships.

We're sure there will be more records than these set at this years Championships Speed Weekend.  So, Don't miss it!

Early Pro Stock Registrations Posted

Sept 22, 2009 - The CENTRE is pleased to release a partial list of registrants for the upcoming Oct 9 - 11th Championships Speed Weekend presented by Pepsi, Maple Leaf and Vance Hanes Auto Parts.  Updated today are the Pro Stock registrations as of Sept 19th.  Registrations continue to roll in and based on the early numbers (more than 100 cars to date) and with several weeks to go before the event the speedway is predicting that this year will rival last years count of 160 teams by a significant number.  "I can't think of a better way to end the season than a big event and it looks like this years 9th annual Championships Speed Weekend is going to be just that"  said CFS Promoter and GM, Tim Wile.  Stay tuned for further updates including all the teams in the coming days.  We hope to see you all at the CENTRE in October.

Championships Largest Purses, Rules and Schedules Released

Sept 21, 2009 - The CENTRE is excited to announce it's largest purse ever for the Oct 9 - 11 Atlantic Championships Speed Weekend.  The purse is sponsored in part by Pepsi, Maple Leaf Foods and Vance Hanes Auto Parts.  Rules and schedule are also released.  See the Speed Weekend related pages for all the details.

Atlantic Championships Announced

Sept 5, 2009 - CFS is pleased to announce the 10th Annual Atlantic Stock Car Championships - Speed Weekend scheduled for October 9, 10, 11th.  The weekend, which is one of the 3 biggest paying events in the Maritimes with a total purse of over $50,000 and has been the best attended stock car event in Atlantic Canada for 9 years running.  It will feature cars in all major classes in the region.  The speedway is promising that this years "Year End Racing Celebration" will have a number of new features to further enhance the event for the fans and drivers from throughout our region.  Detailed announcements will be made in the coming days and weeks regarding the event, so please stay tuned!

Barriault Defies Odds - WINS 3 in
Destruction Event

Aug 30, 2009 -- Against all odds, Gilles Barriault (#69) of Abram Village, PEI recorded three wins during the Maple Leaf Foods ‘Eve of Destruction’ event at the Centre for Speed (CFS) on Sunday afternoon aboard his Arsenault Fish Mart 1995 Toyota Tercel, taking home $1,200 in prize money. Driving against much bigger cars in all three events, including the Demolition Derby, Barriault was able to weave his way to victory and put the final hit on fellow Islander, Billy Arsenault (#2) of Abram Village driving a 1987 full-size Chevy Caprice, to capture the $1,000 win in the Demolition event. Tommy Fitzgerald (#24) of Grand River, PEI had to settle for third and a front-row seat to the final hit. Barriault’s vehicle, which sustained significant damage after numerous rear-end hits from his mostly larger 8-cylinder competitors, had earlier claimed victories in the ‘edge of your seat’ 10-lap Barrel Race and 10-lap Full Contact race before his win in the main event of the afternoon. “I never thought I’d be the last car standing in this event,” admitted a surprised and ecstatic Barriault after the Demolition win. “I guess the Tercel wanted to show what she could do against the bigger dogs.” It was also a good afternoon for Jason Boudreau (#10) of Shediac aboard his Maritime Hydraulics Crown Victoria. He picked up the win in the 35-lap Endurance Race, crossing the finish line ahead of regular CFS competitors Pierre Gautreau (#40) of Shediac and Martin Landry (#18) of Grand Barachois, who had both traded in their 4-cylinder Mini Stocks for more powerful and rugged 8-cylinder racecars for Sunday’s event. Boudreau also put on a great display of tire-burning during the Burnout competition to the delight of the crowd who voted his
efforts tops in this event. Meanwhile, Joel Després (#34) of Scodouc drove his 1995 Saturn to victory in the unpredictable Back-up Bag Race.

As a result of wet track conditions, the scheduled Eastern Well Drillers 50-lap features for Sportsman and Streetstock racecars as well as the regular points racing and features for the Mini Stock and Four Fun division racecars, was postponed and rescheduled for September 13th starting at 2:00 p.m. which is the next scheduled event at the CENTRE.

"Eve of Destruction" Rescheduled - "Double Header" Sunday on Tap

Aug 26, 2009 - CFS is pleased to announce that the "Eve of Destruction" portion of the Monster Madness event previously scheduled for this Saturday Night (Aug 29th) has been moved to Sunday, August 30th at 4 PM. The show will feature all the Demolition and Full Contact events previously scheduled except the Monster Trucks.  It will immediately follow the "Eastern Well Drillers" South East Challenge points championship 50 lap stock car events for Sportsman and Street Stocks which start at 2 PM.  Fans will be able to attend either or both events for a single regular price admission of $12 for adults and $5 for children.  Pit entry will be $15 for the day.  "We're very disappointed by the cancellation of BIGFOOT and therefore our MT show and as a result we want to give fans a special treat this Sunday. So, we're offering twice the action for the same money.  Motor sports enthusiasts can come to both events Sunday afternoon at 2 and just pay the regular price of a single show" said promoter Tim Wile.

Edge Motorsports Withdraws Bigfoot

Aug 24, 2009 - CFS regrets to inform Monster Truck fans that due to a last minute change of competitors by Monster Truck promoter "Edge Motorsports" the CENTRE is forced to cancel it's Bigfoot Monster Madness show for this year.  "We were promised Bigfoot and we've been advertising him as the headline truck on this show for months now.  We're very disappointed that Edge had not securred the truck for the show as promised and the only way to avoid major confusion and dissatisfaction with fans expectng to see Bigfoot is to cancel the show."  CFS will be notifyiong all media outlets to ask them to please inform their patrons of the cancellation.  The speedway hopes to find a replacement promoter for next years event.   Fans who purchased advance tickets will receive a full refund.  Thank you for your understanding.

CFS Addresses Future of SEC Series

Aug 23, 2009 - CFS Management is announcing today that, after review of the commitments made by itself and River Glade Speedway in the South East Challenge Series partnership and the contract signed by the two entities, it will continue to run the SE Challenge Series for the remainder of this year.  "The South East Challenge Series contract signed by ourselves and RGS management does not allow either speedway to cancel prior to the end of the season," said owner Tim Wile.  Despite the River Glade announcement earlier this month that it would be cancelling the series (which includes points fund commitments), the parties are committed in the partnership document to the series to the end of the season.  There is the option for either speedway to cancel at that point.

As a result of River Glades unfortunate closing for the remainder of this season, CFS will move the final points race to CFS for the Sept 13th date as a show of good faith with the racing communty.  A make up race has also been scheduled for August 30th to replace the rained out "Eastern Well Drillers" race and there may be one more race added (for a total of 10) to give points competitors an even chance at the championship.  We believe most of the racing community knows that for the last several years, CFS has done everything in our power to try to work with RGS including the proposal of the idea of a "south east challenge" three years ago.  Unfortunately the idea was not accepted at that time and although our dream of the two tracks working together was realized this year it has been short lived.

CFS is disappointed that it was blamed as the reason for the RGS closing.  After meeting with the drivers in February, and explaining that the speedways had agreed there would be a 10 race series at the two tracks, we were informed shortly thereafter by Mr Berry that he did not think he would be able to run any races (or "maybe one") due to issues in his partnership at River Glade Speedway.  At that time I offered various suggestions to try and help but these turned out to be unacceptable to either Mr. Berry or his partners.   Mr. Berry suggested other scenarios that we understand would have releaved him of his partnership issues but I was not willing to take the associated risk.  It is our understanding that the RGS closing is directly related to the current partnership issues at RGS and has nothing to due with the CFS.  I can see that blaming CFS is the easy and political thing to accept, verses the facts as we understand them (above).  CFS is not the cause for the closure and we are in no way responsible.

We hope that the issues at RGS can be resolved soon and we would welcome any discussion of a partnership in the future.

Mid Summer Invitational Growing

July 31, 2009 - The annual Mid Summer Invitational is expected to grow once again this year as the event gains popularity.  Since starting the NB Day weekend event 4 years ago the speedway has seen car counts grow slightly each year to what is expected to be in the order of 70 cars this Sunday.  Competitors from Cape Breton, PEI, Fredericton and mainland NS have expressed their intention to compete along with additional local cars finally getting out for their first race.  There is an early arrival party on Saturday from 4 - 10 including free practice and a beer garden to follow and then the racing gets under way on Sunday at 2 PM.  A detailed schedule for the 2 days can be seen by going to the Schedule page and then clicking on the event date.  Fans attending early can also head downtown on Saturday Night for the Shediac Blues Festival featuring some great Blues Music starting at 9 PM.

Ultra Competitive Series Resumes

July 25th, 2009 - The South East Challenge Series will resume today (Sunday, July 26th) featuring the Buyer Flyer 50 lap "Four Fun" Division feature and a 50 lap Sportsman feature plus championship racing in both of the other divisions.  Racing is ultra tight after three event with only one point separating the leaders in 3 of the four divisions.  "The racings been great and the car counts are good and getting better each week so far.  It's a race fans dream and I can't wait to see these guys square off again tomorrow" commented Tim Wile of CFS.  The action gets under way tomorrow, Sunday July 26th at 2 PM.

Concert Cancelled Due to Weather

July 25th, 2009 - Unfortunately due to the heavy rain and resulting electrical concerns the Speedways first concert in 10 years was cancelled last night.  The CENTRE is offering all those who purchased a ticket to the show the option to hold on to the ticket for use on August 21st at the next Classic Rock Concert Series event (a higher value ticket) featuring Canadian classic rock stars "Harlequin" or a full refund.  For a refund fans should contact the speedway home office at 506 388-2415 and not the ticket outlet.  The CENTRE wishes to thank everyone involved in the event and everyone who purchased tickets to the show for their support.  Their is obviously an interest in seeing these shows in Barachois and we will do our best not to disappoint on the 21st.

First of Three Days of Destruction Set to Go for Sunday

July 14, 2009 - The Centre for Speed, Greater Moncton’s Playground of Power, will host its first of three
‘Day of Destruction’ event this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. featuring the ‘edge-of-your-seat’ Figure 8
race, Endurance race ans a giant Demolition Derby.

The ‘crash and bang’ action will also include an always unpredictable ‘Full Contact’ race as well as the
popular Burn Out competition during the intermission. It promises to be an action-packed afternoon of
‘smash-em up’ action!

The crews in the South East Challenge Series, a partnership between the CFS and Riverglade Speedway

Williams says his #24 street stock will be at the track competing however with an as yet to be named driver.   Several other new and returning drivers have also registered in various classes for the 2009 season.  It all adds up to more fun for everyone and we can't wait to get started.  We'll see you and them on the 14th of June for what looks to be one of the strongest car counts in the last 10 years or racing here in South Eastern NB.

Greater Moncton Speedways Announce Alliance

April 26, 2009 - Motor sports Promoters Herman Berry, Jr. (River Glade Speedway) and Tim Wile, Sr. (Shediac's CENTRE for Speed) announced today that they have reached an agreement they hope will build and ensure the long term success of stock car racing in South Eastern New Brunswick for the benefit of the racing community.  After several month's of discussions and meetings on the subject the two track owners inked a deal to co-promote Greater Moncton stock car racing, this past weekend. The cornerpiece of the alliance is an agreement that the two tracks will run as one cohesive unit to deliver non competing stock car events to the Greater Moncton area. The speedways will not run stock car events on the same weekend and will run a common points system, points fund, payouts rules and proceedures for all stock car divisions in an attempt to incent the competitors at both facilities to competing together thereby nearly doubling the field of cars at each track on thier respective alternating weekends.  The resulting "Series" is what the promoters have dubed the "South Eastern Challenge" and will see 10 stock car "points" events at the two venues. In addition, CFS will have several motors sports invitational events including other non stock car related motor sports entertainment such as Monster Trucks, Music and Demolitions.  pecifics of which are TBA soon.

"I think this is a very positive step for stock car racing in our region", said Tim Wile, Sr. "I beleive this is something that the whole stock car racing community can benefit from; fans, sponsors, drivers and the speedways. I'm very excited about it. This is going to be very interesting to watch and compete in this since our two tracks are so completely different. It's going to be a real challenge to see who will come out on top. The only thing for certain is that the competitors in this series will be making history for the ages. I very excited about this. I think it's a great thing for the Greater Moncton racing community."

Herman Berry, Jr. commented "Tim and I with the help of Paul Rossiter and the racing teams from both tracks have come up with a set of building rules that are (for the most part) making it so any car in the Maritimes can race at our two tracks and our cars can go to all other tracks without having to make major changes. With this alliance we hope to have increased car counts
and give the fans some very exciting racing".

The speedways have all but finalized their schedules and are hoping to find a sponsor who will brand this historic series with their name prior to the start of racing. Till then the season opener
has been slated for June 14th in Shediac with the 10 race finale set for Riverglade on Sept 13th. More schedule details are TBA in the coming days.
